Property Overview

Secluded luxury in the heart of Goa, by a fishing village

Two worlds come together at Ahilya by the Sea – the legacy of the Madhya Pradesh royals, who own the property, and the relaxed atmosphere of seaside Goa. This is ideal for travellers looking for a luxury property but sufficiently secluded. Though far away from the motherland, the property exudes the same hospitality and makes you feel like royalty anyway. The flagship property goes by the same name in MP, hence featuring Ahilya in the name. Away from the touristy beaches, Ahilya stands at the edge of the Dolphin Bay across from Panjim. Dusk is especially beautiful with the sunset and the Panjim lights twinkling in the distance. Given that most properties tout their ‘edge of the sea’ or ‘tucked in wilderness’ labels, Ahilya has something special to offer – the calmness of overlooking the bay area, lights twinkling in the distance and excellent hospitality and top comforts.

An erstwhile Portuguese custom house that was later refurbished as a local residence, one is surrounded by art and sculptures at all times. The décor in the rooms is a refreshing ode to a definitive vintage vibe – this was an old Portuguese villa earlier and later bought the royal family of Madhya Pradesh. Elegant curios, furniture and breezy rooms make them perfect to relax in. It gives you a peek inside the owner’s taste, as each artefact has been handpicked from her own travels around the world.

The 11 rooms within three villas and a tree house of the property are ideal for families and groups. Plus there are two swimming pools, a green strip of garden and a soothing ambience to enjoy a holiday in Goa. The villas are great for families and couples, but who can trump the thrill of staying in a tree house?

The location of the property is great, as you’re close to Fort Aguada, restaurants and nightlife, yet pleasantly isolated from the touristy vibe. But what you’d really want to sign up for are the special curated trips around the markets, fishing at sea and the historical slice of Goa. You can also ask for a special meal for an occasion, which will be specially prepared and served in a unique location on the property.
