The heritage homestay, Wild Mahseer, is an ode to the biodiverse haven that is Kaziranga National Park. Set on 22 acres of natural surrounds, the homestay offers easygoing but mindful environs for you to enjoy the astounding wildlife and nature in the region. The unobtrusive hospitality, relaxed and comfortable rooms and delicious food puts you at ease to take in the wilderness at your own pace. Wild Mahseer’s naturalists are some of the best in town and happy to pass on the knowledge for your Kaziranga immersion.
The main bungalow, Burra Bungalow, was once home to a British Chief officer of tea plantation in the region. The 145 years of age is still intact in the vintage furniture, classic architecture and slow-paced vibe. Living the planter’s life is just one of the charming things about the homestay. Other 4 bungalows are also part of heritage tea estates. The bungalows are simple, with tasteful décor and overlook a green expanse. The high ceilings and charming nooks and corners of the homestay are its biggest appeal.
Additionally, the homestay is closely connected to the local community to employ them, organise trips into the village to showcase the culture and also have an array of handicrafts that are available for guests to buy. The curated experiences to see Kaziranga at close quarters and meet the local community are appreciated by many travellers who want the real deal.
